International Applicant Information

Requirements for Admission

All applicants must submit copies of original secondary educational documents and, if needed, certified English translations to the Office of Admissions. Documents should include year of secondary school graduation, courses undertaken, and marks earned in each course, as well as exam results. Applicants who have taken external examinations, such as the GCE "O" and "A" levels, the Baccalaureate, etc., should submit the results in support of their application.

The Center for Education Documentation provides evaluations of educational credentials and course-by-course reports for students educated at foreign secondary schools, colleges, or universities.

BFIT, not the agency, determines the final decision for the acceptance of transfer credit.

If accepted, students must pay the required $100 (U.S.) tuition deposit and $70 (U.S.) for processing the Certificate of Eligibility (I-20 Form) in support of their F-1 student visa.

English Language Proficiency

It is extremely important that all applicants demonstrate fluency in English. Completing at least one of the following may do this:
  1. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) administered by the College Entrance Examination Board.
  2. Certificate of completion of English as a Second Language program from a recognized language institute.
  3. Satisfactory completion of the BFIT ESL program.
Financial Documentation

All international students are expected to have sufficient funds available to cover all academic and living expenses for the duration of their stay in the U.S. As an international applicant, you are required to provide BFIT with a financial statement showing proof of your ability to pay these costs for the first year of study. BFIT has estimated that $25,000 should be sufficient to cover first-year expenses, including tuition, room and board, books and fees.

Application Procedure
  1. Complete the BFIT Application for Admission. Application forms which have been completed by second parties or agents will not be accepted.
  2. Attach an international money order for $50 (U.S.) to application. This fee is non-refundable.
  3. Submit a transcript (certified English translation, if needed) of secondary school records and relevant examination scores. (Transfer students should also submit university transcripts and course descriptions.)
  4. Submit evidence of English proficiency.
  5. Submit a completed Financial Declaration Form or a current bank statement and letter of support from your sponsor.
When to Apply

Applications and all supporting material should be submitted no later than two months prior to the intended date of enrollment. Applications are generally accepted for the terms beginning in September and January.

Form I-20

BFIT issues the Certificate of Eligibility (Form I-20) in support of the F-1 visa only after payment of the $70 (U.S.) I-20 processing fee and a $100 (U.S.) tuition deposit. All fees and deposits are non-refundable.

Financial Aid Policy for International Students

BFIT does not offer financial assistance to international students. Students are advised to investigate sources of financial aid in their own countries, such as government agencies, civic organizations, industry, or lending institutions.
